History

A bit of history

Corte Vale Dium was born in 2018 from the restoration of an apartment complex that, in the first half of the twentieth century, was part of Antonio Candini’s Trattoria Al Sole.

I was looking for a place to express my calling for hospitality, and this courtyard is the perfect spot if you want to:

  • experience the heart of Valeggio sul Mincio and enjoy its beauty;

  • visit the wonders of Borghetto, one of Italy’s most beautiful villages, without having to move your car;

  • discover Verona, Mantua, and Lake Garda.

Corte Vale Dium is the realization of my dream.
I want to welcome and meet new faces, listen to their stories, and leave them with a memory that is both beautiful and true.

Why “Corte Vale Dium”?

It seems that “Valeggio” (Valès in the local dialect and Valéso in Venetian) has two possible meanings:

  • “flat place”;

  • “Valley of the Gods,” from the Latin vale dium.

The meaning of “corte” (courtyard) is no less important: it carries the scent of history, hospitality, family, and togetherness. It’s a space to return to at night to rest body and mind, a place to regain your energy for a new day.

And that’s how Corte Vale Dium was born—your home on holiday.
